We’re audio and video podcasters, enthusiasts, businesspeople, hobbyists, musicians, promoters, marketers, and people who generally want to understand more about the new media space. Google+ for Personal & Professional Use
With Google+ becoming a major social networking platform within weeks of its ‘field release’, there is no longer any question that the social web is here to stay. The Google+ platform is not even open to the general public yet. No one knows exactly which direction it is heading, but by getting in and getting comfortable now you will have an advantage for when the floodgates open!
This Social Media Club Princeton NJ Region meetup will discuss tips and tricks that you can use to make the most of Google+ features such as Profiles, Hangouts, Circles and Sparks.
As a measure of good faith, our local chapter has started charging a $5 fee to attend meetups. For over two years this club has offered free events, but over the last six month we have had many issues with a large number ‘no-shows’ after getting sponsorship and covering expenses out of our own pockets. We hope you understand the need to charge a nominal fee. All tickets are non-refundable, thanks.
Social Media Club has been organized for the purpose of sharing best practices, establishing ethics and standards, and promoting media literacy around the emerging area of Social Media. Join Social Media Club New York City (SMCNYC) for Social Media Camp NY, 2.0 on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Roger Smith Hotel. We’re proud to be joined by SMC North Jersey and SMC Long Island as well.
In June of 2009 we ran a very successful Social Media Camp, sharing the basics of Social Media as well as some more advanced techniques. For Internet Week 2010 we’ll do this again.

We will have a few rooms available and will be partially running Social Media Camp in a traditional Open Space / BarCamp format, with one ‘introductory’ track intended for people looking to learn the social media basics for use in their marketing efforts and for generally joining the conversation about how to use social media for their organization.
