TEDWomen

SMCPrinceton wanted to pass along this event information. Many of our area members are attending, and some are even speaking!

Please join us on Tuesday, December 7 for the live stream of TEDWomen. Drop in and stay as long as you want, beginning at 2:30 p.m. We’ll be having conversation around the talks we see and getting to know each other.   We will have an optional dinner on Tuesday night for $10 per person (or bring your own bag lunch).

On the evening of December 7th we will have a live program with 5 great speakers on the topic of “Women and Technology in the Age of Conversation”. Jill Foster, Katie DeVito, Hilary Morris, Holly Landau, and Melissa Klepacki will be our engaging and energetic presenters, as our TEDx unfolds live from Princeton Public Library. You have to be here to be in the conversation!

Musical interludes will be provided by Indie Music Night host and singer/songwriter Sarah Donner.

On Wednesday, December 8 we’ll be live streaming the TEDWomen video feed for sessions 4 through 7, all day and into the evening. Individuals can pay $100 to watch the live webcast, but why watch alone when you can see it for free and share the excitement with other TED fans at the library?

Register from the link at http://www.ted.com/tedx/events/1152.html or here . We’d love to know you are coming for the conversation.

Director of Membership Katie DeVito on The Early Show

Our very own Director of Membership Katie DeVito has been leading a very exciting life lately! Katie along with Lamar Graham, Executive Editor of Parade Magazine, spoke to Harry Smith on The Early Show and gets some advice for job seekers.

Katie has been working with PARADE magazine on the “What People Earn” project, which lead to an interview this morning on The Early Show. We encourage you to Become a Fan on the “What People Earn” Facebook Fanpage and watch Katie and others on their quest to find employment.

Also mentioned in the interview is the networking group for out-of-work New Jerseyans that Katie started.  You can find information on the group by searching Twitter for the hashtag #NJunemployed.  The NJ Unemployed group started as a way for individuals who are unemployed in NJ to come together, share experiences, stories and struggles. Katie hopes to bring in employers looking to hire, as well as presenters to speak on resume writing and business etiquette to the group as well.

Personally, we don’t think Katie will be on the job market long!
